QS Ranking: WHU’s Master in International Business Enters Global Top 5

The university performs strongly in QS International Trade Ranking—placing #1 in Germany again

The Master in International Business Program (MIB) offered by WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management continues to perform well in the eyes of university analyst firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), as evidenced by the excellent results of the recently published QS International Trade Ranking for 2027. Following its debut in the ranking in 2024, WHU has steadily climbed the list ever since to now #5 globally, out of a total of 110 programs evaluated, and #1 in Germany. The program performed strongly in most criteria, amassing an overall score of 85.3 out of 100 points (up from 78.6 the previous year) and exceeding the global average by a noticeable margin in several of the ranking’s categories.

WHU progressed in QS’s “reputation” assessments (#23), which draw on surveys of employers and academics. The program’s reputation among employers in particular now stands at 86.6 points, surpassing the corresponding worldwide score of 54.1 points. The university also gained considerable ground in the “industry engagement” category, leaping ahead nearly 30 positions from #90 last year to #63, the result of efforts made to reaffirm and improve the school’s partnerships with employers.

Elsewhere in the ranking, the program placed highly in the “innovative teaching” category, moving from #16 to #10, which may be attributed to the school’s increased number of modern formats employed in the classroom. The program also performed well in “trade programme content” (#23) and made significant progress in the “research” category (#25), which assesses citations in journals relevant to international trade. As a result, the program’s research score has pushed the school into the ranking’s top 30.

Under the stewardship of Professor Felix Reimann, Academic Director, the program prepares students to work within a variety of sectors and industries, with most entering the fields of management consulting, international trade, or banking, and equips them with the skills they need for a long-lasting, fruitful career. The program sees students spend one semester abroad and provides them an opportunity to complete internships at leading international companies, often arranged through WHU’s dedicated Career Center.
