Exploring the Future of Work

AI Research Day at WHU

On July 9, 2025, the Chair of Leadership hosted a full day of exciting conversations and research-driven insights as part of the WHU Management Group Research Seminar Series. Centered on the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in organizations, a diverse group of international scholars, WHU faculty, and students joined an inspiring series of talks and discussions.

The day began with Mary Hausfeldincoming Assistant Professor at the University of Limerick Business School), who challenged us to rethink gender bias in digital spaces by presenting new findings on how the gender pay gap may persist even among AI agents.Jakob Stollberger (Professor at Durham University Business School) followed with a compelling session on how to publish AI research in top-tier journals, sharing behind-the-scenes insights from his role as Associate Editor at Human Relations. He also offered a glimpse into his current research on AI. Finally, to round out the day, Kyoung Yong Kim (Associate Professor at Villanova University Business School and currently visiting WHU) presented two exciting projects exploring AI-HRM and CEO servant leadership.

From research “speed dating” to lively Q&A sessions, the event was full of an energetic, collegial atmosphere and many fresh ideas on the future of AI. A heartfelt thank you to all our speakers for sharing their insights, and to Fabienne Wrobel for organizing the day so seamlessly.

We look forward to continuing the conversation at WHU and beyond!
