WHU’s New Assistant Professor of Finance

Dr. Pascal Kieren to teach and conduct research at WHU starting September 1, 2025

WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management warmly welcomes Dr. Pascal Kieren as its new Assistant Professor of Finance as of September 1, 2025. Before coming to WHU, Professor Kieren was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Heidelberg with a focus on behavioral finance, household finance, asset pricing and portfolio choice, and macro finance. His research shares commonalities (e.g., regarding wealth allocation) with the work conducted at the recently established Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurial Families, jointly founded by WHU and LGT Private Bank. Professor Kieren has already proposed several new projects that he would like to pursue in collaboration with LGT as part of his new role.

Professor Kieren earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Saarland in 2014. He later earned his master’s in business and his doctorate from University of Mannheim, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has also gained experience abroad, working as a guest researcher at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.

To date, Professor Kieran has published four articles in renowned academic journals and has taught at the bachelor, master, and doctoral levels for the University of Mannheim and Heidelberg University.

In addition to his career in academia, Professor Kieren has also experience in the corporate world, working for the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft and as a consultant for ARERO – Der Weltfonds.
