Aid transport carrying office furniture on its way to Kyiv
The war in Ukraine has now been ongoing for over four years, and the continued destruction of houses and apartments by drones and bombs has led to severe shortages of many essential items. With a large shipment of furniture, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is now supporting crisis-affected regions in Ukraine. The initiative was launched by the university’s Campus Management Vallendar and was warmly received by the German-Ukrainian Society for Business and Science, based in Mainz.
On behalf of the society, a truck carrying aid supplies was dispatched from Germany to Ukraine on March 17. Fifteen supporters from the business school gathered in the morning to help load 66 tables, chairs, and shelving units from WHU’s storage onto the truck from Ukraine. Two hours later, the semi-trailer was fully loaded and set off eastward with the furniture.
“We had been in contact with the German-Ukrainian Society for Business and Science for some time regarding a possible donation of office furniture that was no longer needed,” said Dr. Lars Beuth, Associate Director Campus Management Vallendar. “We are keen to help wherever we can, and due to the increasing destruction of buildings in Ukraine, office furniture is also urgently needed.”
The initiative was also supported by the student club WHUSH WHU Students Help and WHU’s marketing department.
