WHU Community Brings Holiday Cheer to Local Residents in Need

Children and pensioners can look forward to an extra gift under the tree

The annual holiday gift donation drive, jointly organized by Tafel Vallendar and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management for people in need, has become something of a wonderful tradition.

On December 15, the school handed over 68 presents, packed with love, to the town’s food bank. “They have been gifting children, and now also pensioners, hand-picked presents for six years now—and remarkable show of solidarity and humanity,” said Alfred Waurig, Team Director at Tafel Vallendar and representative of the board at Tafel Koblenz, e.V. “Thanks to their efforts, our recipients will have a little extra Christmas joy they would have otherwise missed. Thank you, sincerely! You’re making our world a little brighter and our children happier.”

The WHU community approaches the drive every year with enthusiasm. For the first time since its inception, the initiative also aimed to bring some holiday cheer to local pensioners. In fact, the level of commitment displayed by the school’s students, members of the professional staff, and the faculty has grown such that it now stretches beyond Vallendar and will reach residents of Koblenz as well. Beneath the layers of colorful wrapping paper, recipients will find age-appropriate presents, including toys for children or shopping vouchers for adults, as well as a short holiday greeting.

“It’s great to see how many ‘WHU-lers,’ year after year, take part in the drive,” said Dajana Leppin, who is responsible for steering the project on WHU’s side, ensuring that each gift lands under the correct Christmas tree, and ensuring that each participant receives a suitable present. “Even just the preparation for this project brings a smile to my face. It turns my office into something out of Santa’s workshop. We’re all excited to bring a little joy to the community.”
