New Case Study Explores Corporate Digital Responsibility and European Competitiveness

Prof. Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier publishes a case study on fair process leadership and innovation at Zahnen Technik

Prof. Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier, Chair of Production Management, has completed a new management case study in partnership with Zahnen Technik GmbH and the Zukunftsinitiative Rheinland-Pfalz (ZIRP) e.V.. The study explores how Corporate Digital Responsibility (CDR) can strengthen European competitiveness through focus on sustainability and people-centered leadership.

The case highlights Zahnen Technik, a medium-sized company located near the Luxembourg border, that has become a recognized industry leader in wastewater treatment. In 2024, the company received the “Zukunftsunternehmen” award from ZIRP for its exemplary leadership and commitment to sustainability.

Zahnen Technik’s success lies in a strategic dual approach: 80% of its revenue stems from traditional plant construction using structured project management, while 20% comes from agilely developed digital products that drive innovation. The company’s leadership philosophy is defined by high employee involvement and a bottom-up approach to strategic decision-making—ensuring that innovation is grounded in real-world market challenges.

Zahnen Technik also stands out for its commitment to Corporate Digital Responsibility, emphasizing transparent data practices, trust-based leadership, and long-term sustainability.

The case study and accompanying teaching note will soon be available through The Case Centre.
