Noted industry experts come together to discuss the future of sustainable road and air freight
How can the freight transport sector find a balance between staying competitive and becoming more sustainable? What innovative planning and control methods already exist, and how are they put into practice? And how can the sector leverage alternative transport concepts to meet industry regulations?
These and other pressing questions will find answers at the first-ever WHU Campus for Sustainable Transportation, a one-day conference taking place on October 2, 2025, at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Düsseldorf. The school’s own Chair of Logistics Management has invited an exceptional group of experts—top executives, start-up founders, and researchers from all around the world—to explore the future of sustainable road and air freight.
Participants at this inspiring conference can look forward to a day of innovative formats designed specifically to encourage an exchange between theory and practice. Leading researchers and experienced industry experts will co-moderate interactive “science meets business” sessions and discuss relevant topics, such as fleet strategy, charging infrastructure, sustainable aviation fuel, and carbon emissions management.
Among those announced to speak and participate in panel discussions are Dr. Lena Bell, Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company; Fabian Düx, Director of EU Surface Transportation Operations at Amazon; Dr. Andreas Mündel, SVP Strategy and Operations Programs at DHL Group; and Dr. Matthias Winkenbach, Director of Research at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics.
Additionally, the event will provide ample opportunity for networking in a focused, in-person setting, with executive keynotes, panels, and start-up pitches rounding out the day’s agenda.
With the first WHU Campus for Sustainable Transportation, WHU is once again positioning itself as a platform for future-focused discourse where business, science, and society all intersect.
The full program, as well as details on how to register, can be found on the official conference page.
