The club sells barbeque during Vallendar St. Martin’s Parade to aid social project in Rwanda
As one of the most well-known figures in the Christian religion, St. Martin is famous for his altruism. He showed support to the poor and the ill and took the coat off his own back to help a man on the street. Supporting those in need is also one of the missions of the Campus Lions Club Vallendar WHU. At this year’s St. Martin’s Parade, held on November 11 in Vallendar, members of the club sold 300 barbecued snacks and soft drinks, with proceeds going toward a school building project in Rwanda.
For two years running, the club has raised donations for the project, which is also supported by the Reiner Meutsch Stiftung FLY & HELP. All told, this recent charity drive has raised and funneled 1,024.80€ into the project. “By the end of the year, we will have reached our target goal for the project,” said Heike Hülpüsch, a founding member of the Campus Lions Club Vallendar WHU. The club also benefited from the donation of one of their partners, S&G Catering Kai Grießbach-Scholz, who supplied the bread rolls and sausages sold. “Together, we’ve made a substantial contribution with this drive,” continued Hülpüsch. “We’re showing it doesn’t take much to make a real difference.”

Running charity drives at the St. Martin’s Parade has become something of a tradition for the Campus Lions Club Vallendar WHU over the years. The organizers of the drive include Dirk Jonach, Ralf Retzmann, President Alina Langeberg, Vice President Julia Teuber, and former president Heike Hülpüsch.
Campus Lions Club Vallendar WHU—comprising dedicated students, faculty, and professional staff members—is the organization’s only chapter based at a university.
