Better World MBA Ranking: WHU among the Top 40 Programs

Corporate Knights Better World MBA Ranking 2025 evaluates universities for their sustainable and future-oriented course content

The Full-Time MBA Program offered by WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management has been recognized as one of the world’s top 40 programs according to the Corporate Knights Better World MBA Ranking for 2025. The school, with locations in Vallendar and in Düsseldorf, has moved ahead seven positions, thereby placing #34 out of a total 179 programs evaluated. “We’re excited to have received this honor, as it shows that our WHU MBA is offering students a comprehensive education geared toward sustainability both within the leadership context and far beyond it,” said Professor Christian Andres, Dean of WHU.

The curriculum employed for WHU’s MBA is continuously updated to meet the current demands of the job market, which has led to an increase in the number of core courses concerning topics such as sustainability and artificial intelligence. The school’s Full-Time MBA also requires students to join the social entrepreneurship project “Leading with Impact.” As part of this project, students work together with local partners to start a new social enterprise in a European city. By the end of the project, the students present their business model, generate real investments, and then hand the business over for local management. The Part-Time MBA Program, by comparison, offers a sustainability-focused case competition that promotes student engagement in this area. “It is of great importance to us that we—across all disciplines—impart current and up-to-date knowledge to our students and give them the practice-oriented skills they need,” noted Wiebke Rolf, Program Director of the Full-Time and Part-Time MBA at WHU.

The Better World MBA Ranking published by Corporate Knights, an outlet focused on sustainable economic practices, evaluates the individual programs for their alignment on sustainable matters and whether they offer students a future-forward education. The magazine looks at the programs’ requisite courses that integrate topics relevant to sustainable development. This year, the evaluation also officially considered the percentage of recent program graduates now active in “impact organizations” in relation to the total number of alumni. Impact organizations include, for example, non-profits, as well as companies whose core focus is providing solutions to social or ecological problems (and which earn at least 50% of their revenue or expected revenue doing so).
