Concluding the two-year Executive MBA with an experiential learning module.
Intense pressure. Quick thinking. Constant uncertainty. The clock is ticking and every firm has one common goal – to beat the competition.
These are just a few impressions of the Capstone Module experience, which took place in March. The Capstone Module is a business simulation game, offering an action-based learning experience of strategy and execution. It combines everything the students have learned over the course of their EMBA studies and provides the opportunity to put their skills to the test in response to fluctuating market conditions. Knowledge, teamwork, communication, and decision-making are all under intense observation
In assigned study groups the participants form a complimentary executive team for three days, making tactical decisions with respect to typical business functions such as finance, operations, strategy, marketing, HR, and innovation. Each executive team has to formulate, present, and execute their competitive and corporate strategies. Emotions run high as the competition increases - it is fierce, relentless, exhausting, and emotional at the same time.
After six intense periods over the course of three days, the team “DreamPrint” were crowned the winners thanks to their consistent strategy performance. The team “XLAB” scooped second place and “Printastik” came in third.
The success of the Capstone Module over the last few years has resulted in Dr. Prause and Professor Weigand traveling to our partner campus in Hong Kong to conduct the same business simulation in the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Program. The session was met with great enthusiasm and appreciation and will be added to future action-based learning across the network.
Huge congratulations to the winning team and to everyone for taking part!
